Three from Men’s Hockey Named AHCA All-American Scholars

GORHAM, Maine – Senior Jacob Kindestin (Barre,Vt./Champlain Valley Union), freshman Gage LeTourneau (Presque Isle, Maine) and sophomore Marucs Torgner (Mjolby, Sweden) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's ice hockey team have been recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as Krampade All-American Scholars for the 2024-25 season. This is the first All-American Scholar accolade for each of the three athletes.
 
To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester and had to appear in 40% of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders
 
Kindestin, a goalie, played in two games during the 2024-25 season and made 11 saves in 25 minutes of action while allowing one goal. The 2025 receipt of the team's Mike Beveridge Humanitarian Award, Kindestin appeared in eight games in his Southern Maine career. A two-time member of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) All-Academic Team and a two-time William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete, Kindestin completed his degree in Marketing.
 
LeTourneau played in 17 games during his rookie campaign and finished the season with three points. He recorded his first collegiate point with an assist in a non-conference game against Colby College and had an assist in a win against Bowdoin College. His first career game came on the road in a setback against Skidmore College. A defenseman, LeTourneau finished fifth on the team in blocked shots with 19. He is majoring in Biology.
 
An alternate captain for the 2024-25 season, Torgner logged eight points last season split evenly across four goals and four assists. He had a goal and an assist in the win against Bowdoin. Torgner played in 20 of the team's 25 games while missing two weeks in January while competing for Team Sweden at the 2025 FISU World University Games. A William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete, Torgner is majoring in Business Management and was recently named to the NEHC All-Academic Team for the first time in his career.
