245 University of Southern Maine Student-Athlete Named to Little East Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll


GORHAM, Maine – Two hundred forty-five of the approximately 450 University of Southern Maine student-athletes were announced as part of the Little East Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2025 Spring semester.  The conference office listed a total of 2,224 student-athletes competing in the conference's 21 championship sports from the full and associate Little East Conference member institutions as recipients of this academic distinction.
 
To be named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the season. The LEC Academic Honor Roll debuted in 2020. The Little East Conference also awards All-Academic team honors during each playing season (fall, winter & spring with a different criteria). The Spring 2025 LEC All-Academic Team featured 66 University of Southern Maine student-athletes.
 
Husky student-athletes from each of the 19 Little East Conference championship sports sponsored by the University of Southern Maine (Huskies' Athletics does not sponsor men's and women's swimming & diving) were represented on the list.
 
One hundred forty-eight of the Huskies' honored are members of the University of Southern Maine's 10 women's team competing in the Little East Conference, while 122 student-athletes were recognized from the nine men's teams.  Broken down by sport, Southern Maine student-athletes achieving a 3.00 or better grade point average or better: men's indoor and outdoor track & field (33), women's indoor and outdoor track & field (30), women's soccer (29), softball (20), field hockey (20), men's soccer (19), baseball (17), women's lacrosse (16), women's basketball (14), men's basketball (13),
men's lacrosse (12), men's golf (11), men's tennis (10), women's cross country (8), men's cross country (7), women's volleyball (6), and women's tennis (5). Of note, with several multi-sport student-athletes competing in the Little East Conference, there is overlap among teams resulting in 270 roster spots earning a 3.0 or higher GPA.
 
With academic majors ranging from Business Management, Mechanical Engineering, Elementary Education, Nursing, Linguistics, Biochemistry, Finance and more, 44 University of Southern Maine student-athletes achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the spring semester.
 
Five teams from Southern Maine, women's soccer, men's golf, men's indoor track & field and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, won Little East Conference titles during the 2024-25 academic year. Two of those programs, men's golf and men's indoor track & field, also earned the conference's Team Academic Awards for their respective sports by holding the highest average cumulative grade point average (GPA) through the current academic year.
