How It Happened:
- After a scoreless first Firmin put USM ahead in the second with an RBI single through the right side, and Douin made it 2-0 in the third with a run-scoring single to center.
- Husky starter Lucas Francis (Lisbon, Maine) kept the Panthers off the board through three innings, scattering a hit per each inning and not allowing a runner to advance past second.
- The Huskies broke the game wide open in the fourth scoring nine runs on seven hits, two walks and a pair of hit-by-pitch plays to lead 11-0. Junior Chris Quigley (Halifax, Mass./Silver Lake Regional) started the offense with a two RBI single through the right side, and freshman Drew Scialdone (Amesbury, Mass.) and Firmin went for back-to-back doubles to close the scoring. Scialdone's ground-rule double drove in a pair of runs, while Firmin's double to the gap in right drove in the ninth run of the inning.
- PSU broke up the shutout in the fourth as Owen Baum doubled to center for a 11-1 game, and following quiet top of the fifth from the Huskies, the Panthers cut their deficit to 11-4 with three runs. The Panthers knocked five of their 13 hits in the game in the fifth for the three runs, including RBI singles from Sam Salvi and Danny Quinn.
- USM put up another crooked number on the scoreboard with six runs in the top of six to lead 17-4. Four Huskies were hit by a pitch in the inning to give Southern Maine plenty of baserunners. Anquillare picked up two of his three RBI in the game with a double down the left field line as one of two USM hits in the inning, while senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine) had the other with an RBI single to right.
- Salvi drove in another run for PSU in the bottom of the sixth to make it 17-5 with a run-scoring single to right, but USM scored three more times in the top of the seventh to lead 20-5. Quigley had an RBI double to the gap in left, and Poole had a two-run home run to the gap in right for Southern Maine. In the bottom of the inning, the Panthers had back-to-back solo home runs off the bats of Quinn and Jackson Curtis but fell 20-7.
