KEENE, NH – Senior
Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) was 3-for-9 over two games with three runs scored and four RBI, hitting a pair of home runs, but the University of Southern Maine Huskies dropped back-to-back games to the Keene State College Owls 14-8 and 12-2 (8 inn) in a Little East Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex.
Sophomore
Mike Anquillare (North Haven, Conn.) also finished the pair of games 3-for-9 with an RBI and a runs scored, while senior
Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) went 3-for-7 with two runs scored a double and two walks.

How It Happened – Game One: Keene State 14, Southern Maine 8
- With both squads combining for 27 hits in the game, the Owls scored six unanswered runs over the fifth and sixth inning to break an 8-8 tie and earn the win in the opener. Southern Maine rapped out 11 hits, including LeBlond's two home runs, while the Owls connected on 16 hits (four for extra bases) in the high-scoring opener.
- The Owls scored three runs in the first, and led the Huskies 8-3 after four innings. However, Southern Maine exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game up.
- Collecting five hits in the inning, senior Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) led off the fifth with a double to start the rally, and scored on an RBI single from junior Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony). Sophomore Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) reached safely with a single to center field before sophomore Mike Anquillare (North Haven, Conn.) stroked an RBI double to the gap in right to make it an 8-5 game. An RBI ground-out from freshman Drew Scialdone (Amesbury, Mass.) made score 8-6. The Owls got the second out of the inning as Troy Brennan relieved KSC starter Jake Jachym, but LeBlond blasted his second home run of the game for two runs over the right field fence.
- KSC responded in its at-bat however, retaking the lead with a two-run bottom of the fifth on a pair of RBI on Tommy Ahler's two-out single. Ahead 10-8, the Owls scored four more runs in the sixth highlighted by a three-run triple to right from Evan Cali.
How It Happened – Game Two: Keene State 12, Southern Maine 2 (8 inn)
- Keene State combined for 19 hits, including seven for extra bases, to take the sweep.
- Luke Anderson drove in seven runs on a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, including a double. The Owls had three home runs in the game with Evan McCue, Jonathan Chatfield and Shea Zina collecting one each.
- Held to four hits in the contest, LeBlond was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk. Douin went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
