UMass Boston Defeats Southern Maine 29-1

BOSTON, Mass. – Matt Hutchings posted nine points on eight goals and an assist on Wednesday evening for the UMass Boston Beacons in a 29-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in Little East Conference men's lacrosse action. Cole Allan added three goals and three assists while Seth Libby contributed five goals. Junior Rhys Bridges (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) scored the Huskies' goal and has moved into second on the team in points with 20. Sophomore Kaden Manning (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) recorded the assist on the goal by Bridges.

How It Happened:
  • The Beacons hit the ground running with five goals in the first quarter plus another eight in the second to go uop 13-0 at halftime. Hutchings had five goals and an assist in the first half.
  • The third quarter saw the Beacons score nine more times. Bridges ended the combined shutout bid with a man-up goal in under seven minutes left in the quarter. The Beacons continued their dominance after Bridges' goal with 10 unanswered goals to end the game.
 
Inside The Stats:
  • Jack Baker won 11 faceoffs to lead the Beacons. UMass Boston finished 28-for-34 on faceoffs as a team.
  • UMass Boston put 52 shots on goal in the contest.
  • Libby and Patrick Carey each had six ground balls to lead the Beacons. Senior Duncan Hayes (Augusta, Maine/Cony) led the Huskies with four and also caused two turnovers.
