Lucas Francis (Lisbon, Maine) fired six innings of outstanding scoreless relief for the save as the University of Southern Maine Huskies defeated the Bowdoin College Polar Bears 10-7 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Ed Flaherty Field.
Led by Douin's three hits, Southern Maine collected 10 hits off of six Bowdoin pitchers. Senior Jack Leblond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) was the only other repeat hitter for Southern Maine, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
The win avenges the Huskies' 5-4 loss to Bowdoin earlier in the season on March 25.

How It Happened:
- Southern Maine led 3-0 after the top of the first, generating three runs on one hit, three walks, a hit-by-pitch and a smattering of passed balls. Senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine) had an RBI in the inning after being hit with the bases load.
- Bowdoin came back with four runs in the top the second to assume the lead 4-3. Grant Collins did the bulk of the damage with a two-out, three-run triple to tie the game. Cal Thompson made it 4-3 Polar Bears with an RBI single to left picking up Collins at third.
- Continuing the high-scoring theme of the night, Southern Maine made it 6-4 with three runs in the home-half of the second. Douin doubled down the right field line for a pair of RBI, while sophomore Mike Anquillare (North Haven, Conn.) drove in Douin with a single up the middle.
- A costly Huskies' fielding error allowed Bowdoin to take the lead again with three unearned runs in the top of the third. Will Cooke and Conor Moriarty had back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game up at six, before Collins put the Polar Bears to lead yet again 7-6. However, Southern Maine answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to sneak ahead 8-7. Sophomore Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) drove in the go-ahead run with a single through the right side.
- Francis entered the game to pitch for Southern Maine in the top of the fourth, and kept the Polar Bears off of the score sheet for the first time in since the opening inning. Francis earned the save in an outstanding relief effort, firing six scoreless innings. Francis allowed just four hits during his appearance, and gave up just one walk. He struck out four. Junior Kyle Skolfield (Gorham, Maine) was the pitcher of record for the win, allowing three runs (all unearned) on three hits and a walk in 1.1 innings of work.
- The Huskies added a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth for the 10-7 final. LeBlond had an RBI triple to right field in the fourth, while Keblinsky notched a sacrifice fly RBI to the same field in the fifth.
