BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England Nor'easters defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 16-2 on Tuesday evening in a non-conference men's lacrosse game. Preston Briggs led the Nor'easters with five goals and seven grounds while Finn McCoy scored four goals and Kyle Dunn recorded a goal and three assists. The Southern Maine goals came from sophomores
Owen Gaulrapp (Windham, Maine) and
Pat O'Driscoll (Biddeford, Maine).
Evan Hazard made nine saves while allowing just one goal in 43:38 of action to earn the win. Sophomore
Brycen Wolfahrt (Biddeford, Maine) took the loss for the Huskies and made seven saves in the first half. Freshman
Nick Pastusak (Pittsville, Md./Parkside) played the second half in goal and made six saves in the collegiate debut.

How It Happened:
- Briggs scored four times in the first quarter as the hosts ripped off an 8-0 run in the first 15 minutes of play. McCoy scored twice and Stephen Fogarty and Dunn scored as well.
- Goals by McCoy and Hogan Corona in the second period gave the hosts a 10-0 lead at halftime.
- The Nor'easters scored twice in the third quarter before Gaulrapp got the Huskies on the board. McCoy then added his fourth goal of the game in the final 90 seconds of the quarter.
- UNE closed out the game by outscoring the Huskies 3-1 in the fourth quarter. O'Driscoll had the lone goal for the Huskies.
Inside The Stats:
- UNE outshot the Huskies 50-32 and led 29-13 in shots on goal.
- The Nor'easters led 39-27 in ground balls and 13-8 in faceoffs.
- Ben Gowell went 10-for-15 in faceoffs for UNE with six ground balls. Sophomore Nick Shevchenko (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) won six faceoffs and had four ground balls.
- Senior Luke Gagner (Kittery, Maine/Traip Academy) led the Huskies in ground balls with five.
- The Huskies had two penalties for one minute and the Nor'easters committed five penalties and had players in the box for 3:30. UNE was 1-for-2 with the extra man while the Huskies went 0-for-5.
