GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine men's tennis team swept the Lesley University Lynx 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham. The Huskies move to 1-2 on the season with the win. The sweep is their first 9-0 victory since a sweep against Castleton University on April 3, 2021.
 
The Huskies won all three doubles matches, highlighted by an 8-0 sweep by junior Landon Weaver (Bowdoinham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) and freshman Charlie Bitar (Perry, Maine/ Calais) at number three doubles over Lesley's James Ontiveros and Hunter Treanor. The first doubles match saw senior Jaden Parker (Portland, Maine) and senior Zac Howe (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) defeat the pair of Thomas Nicol and DJ Cronin by a score of 8-1. Seniors Azam Jiwa (Calgary, Alberta) and Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, Quebec) defeated Miles Brajdic and Jeremy Ouellette 8-2 in the second doubles match.
 
Parker and Bitar each earned the first singles wins of their Southern Maine careers. Parker bested Nicol 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, while Bitar swept Treanor 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles. Howe also swept his match, taking down Ontiveros in the fourth singles match. Jiwa won 6-0, 6-2 over Brajdic at second singles and Desmarais defeated Cronin 6-1, 6-2.
