How It Happened: Game One – Southern Maine vs. Simpson
- Southern Maine took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Sophomore Maddy Paradis (Salem, NH) stroked a one-out double to left field to give the Huskies their first base-runner of the game, and then moved up to third on a ground-out. With two outs, Paradis used heads up base-running to cross home plate after a passed ball from Simpson.
- The Huskies continued to lead through the top of the third, but Simpson struck back equalizing the game at 1-1 as Megan Heidelbauer connected on a two-out solo home run to center. Simpson scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead over the Huskies. An RBI single from Addison Gookin scored Katie Shaner who led off the inning with a double to center. Simpson continued to roll using three walks, a stolen base and an error for its next two runs.
- Both teams went down in order in the fifth inning and the Huskies went 1-2-3 in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Simpson added one more run on an RBI ground out from Ashlyn Steen.
- The Huskies attempted a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh getting pinch hit singles from freshmen Emma Ingalls (Newport News, Va./Menchville) and Ela Bruno (Denmark, Maine/Osceola Fundamental), but were unable to push any runs across the plate for the 5-1 final.
Game Two - Southern Maine vs. Clarkson
- After a scoreless first three innings, Clarkson broke through for the first runs of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Husky freshman starter Mia Coots (Hartland, Maine/Nokomis) allowed one hit and a walk through the first three innings, and had two strikeouts. In the fourth Clarkson's Bridget Kerwin had a bases clearing double to center field to put the Golden Knights up 3-0. Clarkson had a pair of hits in the inning, and two walks.
- The Huskies came back for two runs in the bottom of the fourth, however, making it a one-run game, 3-2. Junior MacKenzie Renner (Alton, NH/Prospect Mountain) led off the inning with a single, and moved up to second on a ground out. Clarkson starter Devin Fitzpatrick got the second out of the inning on a pop up, but the Huskies' Dufresne hit her first career home run, knocking the ball over center field for two runs.
- In the top of the fifth, Coots worked her way around a two-out double to keep the Huskies close at 3-2, and in the bottom half of the inning, the Huskies loaded the bases but did not come away with a run.
- Scoring twice in the top of the sixth, the Golden Knights extended their lead to 5-2. Sabourin had a sacrifice fly to right field in the inning for the first run, while Simpson scored its second run on a passed ball.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Ingalls had a one-out single, and moved up to second for the Huskies, but could not score. And in their final at bat, USM sophomore Abby Lee (Southington, Conn./Sport and Medical Science Academy) led off the inning with a single, but was stranded for the 5-2 final.
