PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - Twelve different players scored at least three points as the University of Southern Maine Huskies rolled the UMaine Presque Isle Owls 88-25 in a non-conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Weiden Gymnasium.
Senior
Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) led the way with 15 points, five steals, four rebounds and a blocked shot in 17 minutes of action. Graduate student
Liz Cote (Kennett, NH/Conway) added 10 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists in 16 mimutes. Freshman
Baleria Yugu (Portland, Maine) had nine points off of the bench going 3-for-6 from the field.
Lindsay Hamilton led UMPI with eight points, while Aleyah Matheson and Karen Marshall had six and five points each.

Today's game marked the 22
nd meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the UMaine Presque Isle Owls. Southern Maine leads the overall series 14-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Huskies led wire-to-wire scoring the first 14 points of the game and leading 21-6 at the end of the first quarter. Christopher had seven of her game-high 15 in the first quarter.
- Southern Maine limited the Owls to just two points, holding UMPI to an 0-9 effort from the floor to hold a commanding 37-8 lead at the half. Southern Maine scored the first 15 points of the quarter capped by a jumper from Baleria.
- Opening the second half on another 15-0 run, the Huskies lead stretched to 44, 52-8, with 4:13 to go in the third. Freshmen Izzy Morelli (New Gloucester, Maine) and Franki Bello (Leominster, Mass.) canned a three and a jumper respectively to punctuate the run. Bello finished with five points (2-for-2 FG), three rebounds, and two assists in 17 minutes off of the bench, while Morelli had seven points and two steals.
- Ahead 62-13 to start the fourth, Southern Maine outscored the Owls 26-12 in the final frame for the 88-25 final.

- Southern Maine shot 50.0 percent (36-for-72) from the field, and held the Owls to just 18.8 percent (9-for-48) shooting from the floor.
- Southern Maine held a 49-28 lead in rebounds, including a 17-8 advantage in offensive boards.
- The Huskies scored 43 points off of 30 UMPI turnovers, and had a 52-12 advantage in points scored in the paint.
