HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tuplin started the scoring for the Huskies late in the first quarter giving Southern Maine a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. The lead was short-lived however as the Beavers bounced right back to tied the game up at 1-1 in the 14th minute on a goal from Gabby Vincentsen. Vincentsen knocked the ball out of the air on an assist from Zoey Pennell for the equalizer.
- Both teams were scoreless in the second quarter heading into the halftime break at 1-1. The Huskies outshot the Beavers 4-1 in the quarter and had a 2-0 lead in penalty corners, but UMF keeper Ella Grant was up to the task keeping her team even.
- Southern Maine found its scoring rhythm in the third as Tuplin and Townsend combined for a pair of goals. Tuplin banged in the first goal of the third in the 34th minute on a feed from Townsend, and minutes later Townsend scored her own for a 4-1 lead in the 35th. Townsend benefitted from an outstanding lead pass into the circle from Tuplin for the goal.
- Townsend made it 4-1 in the 53rd on a penalty corner. Receiving a well-paced ball from inserter senior Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy), Townsend hit a lofted ball to the upper far post past and outstretched stick of Grant.
