How It Happened:
  • Southern Maine started off hot as Przybilla tapped in her 10th goal of the season in less than 90 seconds after the whistle for kick off.  Freshman Lexi Morin (Brunswick, Maine) found senior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) on the wing, and after two touches toward the endline, Reitchel sent a cross into the box.  Przybilla was able to be Castleton goalkeeper Emma Ezzo to the ball for the marker.
  • Less than four minutes later, VTSU-Castleton knotted the game up at 1-1 as Maggie McKearin ran onto a loose ball and then used speed to carry the ball into the box and hitting a far-post shot to the lower right corner of the net.
  • The game remained locked up at one goal each before the Huskies were awarded a penalty kick in the 42nd minute after a player was dragged down in the box. Stepping to the spot for the third time this season, Przybilla placed the ball past Ezzo for the 2-1 lead and her team-leading 11th goal of the season.
  • Hill gave USM a 3-1 lead early in the second half, scoring her first goal of the season.  Taking one of the Huskies six corners in the game, Reitchel sent in an outstanding ball and Hill crashed the net winning the header and scoring in the 53rd minute.
  • Minutes later Sainis sealed the game with her second goal of 2025.  Hitting a right-footed far-post shot in the 57th minute off of a service from senior back Devan Sherry (Gorham, Maine/Waynflete).  Sherry's assist marked her second of the season.
