LEWISTON, Maine – Eleanor Martin scored twice to lead the Bates College Bobcats to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women's soccer match up Wedneday night at Russell Street Field.

Today's game marked the 37
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and Bates College. Bates leads the overall series 33-3-2 over the Huskies, Southern Maine is 2-1-2 against the Bobcats since 2019. USM earned a 1-0 win over Bates at home in 2022, played to a 0-0 draw in 2023 in Lewiston, and earned a 2-1 win at home in 2024.
How It Happened:
- Southern Maine started out applying pressuring earning a pair of corner kicks in the opening moments, but Bates snagged a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Martin tallied her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Zoe Mittelsteadt.
- Southern Maine nearly had the equalizer in the 45th minute as freshman Marie Benoit (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale) turned one on frame, but her attempt was cleared off the line by Bates' Kate Leland to keep the Bobcats up 1-0 headed into the half.
- Bates made it 2-0 early in the second as Gwyn Jamison bent in a direct kick from the right side of the field near the touchline in the 54th minute.
- Benoit put another shot on target for the Huskies in the 57th only to be turned away by Bates' goalie Brady Jacobson, and junior Kadynne Smith's (Biddeford, Maine) attempt in the 61st sailed wide.
- Husky sophomore Meghan Przybilla (St Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony's) had two shots turned away in the later stages of the second half, and Bates sealed the game late with Martin's second goal of the game coming in the 88th minute.
