GORHAM, Maine – A goal and two assists by Hannah Humes led the University of New England Nor'easters to a 3-1 non-conference victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Friday evening in Gorham. UNE also had goals from Kaylen Taddia and Hannah Keating while Southern Maine's goal came from junior
Saige MacLeod (Dryden, Ontario).
Kaleigh Laurendeau made 30 saves in the win for UNE. fifth year senior
Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) recorded 16 saves for the Huskies.

Series History:
The two Maine schools have now played 24 times. UNE leads the series 12-10-2. Today's win was the first for the Nor'easters since a 2-1 win on October 28, 2022 to open the 2022-23 season.
The Goaltenders:
UNE: Kaleigh Laurendeau (5-1-0): 60:00, one goal allowed, 30 saves
Southern Maine:
Haley McKim (4-6-2): 59:53, three goals allowed, 16 saves
How It Happened:
- UNE scored two quick goals towards the end of the first period. Taddia elevated a shot past McKim 17:27 into the period with assists by Raquel Ade and Hannah Humes. Keating then extended the lead to 2-0 by driving home the puck into an open net following a pass from Amanda Forziati after Forziati secured the rebound of her own blocked shot.
- The Nor'easters played excellent defense in the first period and killed off two penalties with four blocked shots on the first penalty-kill shift.
- Humes goal into the goal column with a great individual effort to win the puck in the offensive zone and fire a shot under the crossbar 15:07 into the period.
- MacLeod ended the shutout less than 30 seconds later after a scrum in front of the net. Senior Ally Stymiest (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) and sophomore Shannon Murphy (Pembroke, Mass./Brewster Academy) had the assists.
- Neither team scored in the final period.
