BANGOR, Maine – Maddie Arsenault scored in the 65
th minute to lead the Husson University Eagles to a 3-2 overtime win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at the Winkin Complex.
It is the second consecutive match-up between the Eagles and Huskies that has gone to overtime. USM defeated Husson by the same score at home in 2023.

Today's game marked the eighth meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Husson University Eagles. Husson leads the series 5-3 and defeated the Huskies 2-0 in 2022. The Huskies previously defeated Husson 3-2 in overtime at home in 2023.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Arsenault scored the first goal of the game to put the Eagles up 1-0 in the 10th minute. Husson's 1-0 lead stood just until halftime when the Huskies equalized with 48 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Sophomore Norie Tibbetts (Skowhegan, Maine) scored her third goal of the season, completing an assist from senior Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine).
- Husson retook the lead in the 34th minute when Karlie Ramsdell notched her first goal of the season for a 2-2 score.
- Tibbetts scored her second goal of the game and fourth of the season in the 39th minute to bring the Huskies level again.
- Both teams were scoreless in the fourth quarter. Husson had a 5-1 lead in shots in the fourth, and an 8-0 lead in penalty corners but junior goalkeeper Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) made one of her six saves, while sophomore Jenessa Foster (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) and senior Jordan Cummings (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) each had a defensive save, forcing overtime.
- In overtime, Southern Maine had the first chance as a shot from Tibbetts was blocked and the Huskies earned a penalty corner, but Arsenault scored off of a Faith Tillotson assist for the final.

- Husky sophomore Jenessa Foster (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) made four defensive saves. Senior Jordan Cummings (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) also had a defensive save.
- Husson led the Huskies in shots 25-5 and 14-2 in shots on goal. Husson also had a 22-3 lead in penalty corners.

The Huskies remain on the road and face Endicott on the road on Wednesday (7:00 pm). Southern Maine returns home on Thursday, October 3 (7:00 pm) against Worcester State University.
