GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored her second goal of the game with 50 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 4-3 overtime win on the road over the Saint Joseph's College (Maine) Monks Monday night at SJC Athletics Complex.
Drinkwater finished the game with two goals and an assist.

Today's game marked the 27th meeting between the Huskies and the Monks. Southern Maine leads the overall series 19-8. Southern Maine has won three consecutive over the Monks earning a 2-0 win over SJC in 2023, and a 3-1 win in 2022. Prior to the 2022 win, the Monks had won four straight over the Huskies.

Inside The Statistics:
- Kienna Haley scored the first of her three goals of the game as time expired in the first quarter to put the Monks up 1-0 over Southern Maine.
- Southern Maine responded with three consecutive goals to take a solid 3-1 win. The Huskies equalized late in the second quarter when sophomore Norie Tibbets (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan Area) scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Drinkwater in the 28th minute.
- Senior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills) found Drinkwater in the circle in the 38th minute to put USM ahead 2-1 before senior Izzy Hurlburt (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) made it 3-1 for the Huskies. Hurlburt scored an unassisted goal picking up a loose ball in the circle and tapping it home in the 49th minute.
- SJC answered Hurlburt's goal quickly scoring in the 50th minute to make it 3-2. Haley scored again for the Monks and was assisted by Sadie Tirrell.
- The Huskies held onto its one-goal lead until late in the fourth when Haley forced overtimes scoring the game-tying goal with less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation.
- Southern Maine had an early opportunity to score in the overtime period earning a penalty corner, but SJC goalkeeper Kassidy Collins made back-to-back saves on shots-on-goal from Tibbetts and Drinkwater to keep the game level.
- SJC had a strong attempt on frame in the 65th minute following a penalty corner of its own. Haley put one on target, but Husky goalkeeper junior Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) made the save.
- Both teams traded possessions and the game seemed destined for another overtime period, but USM won a ball in the midfield and Tibbetts carried into the circle before slotting a ball to Drinkwater in front of the cage. Drinkwater struck for the left side of the net and scored, earning her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

- Southern Maine outshot the Monks 17-7, including 5-1 in the overtime period. SJC had a 9-8 lead in penalty corners.
- Drinkwater now has 43 goals and 20 assists in her career for 106 points. She is now third all-time in career goals, and fourth in career assists. Her 106 points are good for third all-time. Kristin Potito (1989-1988) is the program's all-time leader in goals with 60. Peyton Dostie (2012-2014) is the program's leader in points with 54 goals and 25 assists for 133 points. Dostie's 25 assists are the program record.
- Tibbett's goal is the 10th of her career. She has 10 goals and four assists in 28 career games for 22 points.
- Carson's assist gives her 17 in her career. She has 39 goals and 17 assists for 95 points.
