CASTINE, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's volleyball team was defeated twice on Saturday afternoon at the Coast of Maine Classic dropping a pair of 3-0 matches to Saint Joseph's College and the University of New England. Fifth year senior
Sierra Castonguay (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) had eight digs in both games and is now 49 away from the milestone of 1,000 career digs.

This afternoon's game was the 84th meeting between the local rivals. The Huskies lead the series 50-34. The two teams will meet again on October 1 in Gorham.

How It Happened:
- The Monks used a seven-point run to overcome a 9-5 deficit and then held off a late Southern Maine surge to take the first set 25-22.
- Saint Joseph's set the tone of the second set with an 8-0 run and won the set 25-14.
- The sweep was completed with a 25-19 win by the Monks in the third set.

- The Monks led in blocks 8-1 thanks largely to Nadia Sixto and Regan Noonan with each playing recording a solo block and five block assists. Sixto also had a game-high eight kills.
- Lisa Comolli tallied seven kills, six digs and five aces for the Monks.
- Junior Drew Johnson (Pismo Beach, Cali. /Brewer) was among the Huskies' leaders in several categories with six digs, four kills and two aces.

- The Nor'easters won the opening set 25-18. UNE had 11 kills and four aces in the set. Â

- The third set was a 25-18 win by the Nor'easters.

- The Nor'easters tallied 17 aces in the match. Ellijah Hanley led all players with seven followed by Kassidy Bradshaw with six.
- Bradshaw also had 23 assists and 17 digs and led all players in both categories.
- Johnson and UNE's Arden Caley each had nine kills to tie for the game lead.
- The Huskies led 6-2 in blocks with senior Madison Zimmer (Regina, Saskatchewan/Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic) being a key factor with a solo block and five block assists.
