Brady Scores on Anderson Service For Equalizer

BANGOR, Maine -  Sophomore Jack Brady (Jensen Beach, Fla.) headed in the game-tying goal in the 56th minute finishing a set-piece service from senior Vincent Anderson (Anchorage, Alaska) to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 1-1 draw with the Husson University Eagles in their 2024 season-opener Friday night at Boucher Field.

The Records:
Southern Maine (0-0-1)
Husson University (0-0-1)

Tonight's contest is the 53rd meeting in program history between Southern Maine and Husson.  The Huskies last face the Eagles during the 2021 season, and came away with a 1-1 double overtime draw. USM leads the overall series 22-18-7, but the Eagles were 4-2-4 in the last 10 meetings.

How It Happened:
  • Husson took the lead in the 18th minute on a goal from Mosi Masimango.
  • The Eagles kept Southern Maine off of the board in the first half despite an fairly even game statistically with Husson leading USM 5-4 in shots in the opening stanza.  Brady nearly had the equalizer before the halftime break, heading the ball on frame but Husson goalkeeper Samuel Bermudez made the stop.
  • Brady made good on his next attempt on frame in the 56th minute to knot up the score, heading the ball past Bermudez to the bottom right corner following a free kick service from Anderson.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Aldo Bryant (Fairhope, AL/Bayside Academy) earned the decision starting the second half, and making four stops in his collegiate debut for the draw.
