PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) recorded a game-leading seven points on three goals and four assists for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's lacrosse team on Tuesday night in a 15-7 loss to the Plymouth State University Panthers in Little East Conference action. While James led all players in points, Plymouth State's Crosby Fay scored five goals in the contest and the Panthers also had two goals and two assists from Josh Manickam. Ryan Collins assisted on three goals for the Panthers while Zach Marvel had two assists. Kevin Cougler and Shea Clark each scored twice.

Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) scored twice for the Huskies and freshman
Kaden Manning (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) also logged two points with a goal and an assist. James now has 38 assists on the season and has broken the program record of 36 that he set in 2023.

How It Happened:
- The first goal of the game came 1:09 into the action off a connection from the James brothers. Junior Andrew James (Portland, Maine/Deering) scored the goal with Nick providing the assist. Plymouth then retorted with a 4-0 run to close out the quarter with the last goal coming from Manickam with the Panthers a man-down.
- Fay scored twice in the second quarter while Collins recorded the assist on both scores. The Panthers also had a goal by Clark during the quarter while Nick James assisted on a Wetmore goal and then scored as well.
- Fay added three more goals in the third quarter as Plymouth State blanked Southern Maine 5-0 during the frame.
- Southern Maine scored four goals in the fourth with Nick James contributing to each one with two goals and two assists.

Inside The Stats:
- Plymouth State led 61-18 in shots and doubled the Huskies' ground balls at 50-25. Aiden Renner led the Panthers with eight ground balls while going 11-for-12 on faceoffs. Joey Loeber added five ground balls and led all players in caused turnovers with three.
- Wetmore led the Huskies with five ground balls followed by freshman Owen Gaulrapp (Windham, Maine) with four and two caused turnovers.
- The Panthers scored twice while a man up and had a down-goal.
- Nick James has now broken his own program record for assists in a season with 38. Wetmore sits just behind him with 35 assists and has a chance to overtake him for the team lead in Friday's season finale.
- James' program record of 83 points in a season is also in play for both him and Wetmore. Wetmore currently has a slight lead in points with 81 to James' 80.
- Wetmore's next goal will tie the record of 47 goals set by James last season.
- The Huskies have 183 goals as a team and are closing in on the program record of 186 set by the 2018. The team's 305 points this season are a new program record as are their 122 assists.
