GORHAM, Maine – Sixth-year senior
Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) became the all-time leader in career points for the University of Southern Maine women's lacrosse team on Tuesday evening with an assist in a 19-3 non-conference loss to the Colby College Mules. Shanks recorded her 249th career point to pull ahead of Jessica Knight '12. The Mules are now 7-2 on the season while the Huskies fall to 3-4.

Zoey Verbesey led the Mules with five goals followed by Julia Jardina with four and Cami McDonald with three. Emma Greene distributed three assists and Tate Ban had two assists as well.

The Huskies had two goals from junior
Julia McKenna (Windham, Maine) and a score from senior
Paige Rinaldi (Freeport, Maine). Shanks had the only assist for the Huskies with a helper on Rinaldi's goal.

How It Happened:
- Colby scored on each of their first three free position shots to jump out to an early lead. Jardina scored the first two and the third was netted by Julia Maimonis. The Huskies got on the board with a goal by McKenna and cut the lead to 3-2 on an up-goal from Rinaldi that Shanks assisted on to break the record. Colby closed out the quarter on a 4-0 run to lead 7-2 after the first 15 minutes of play. McDonald and Ainsley Dion each scored twice in the stretch.
- The Mules added four more goals in the second quarter while holding the Huskies scoreless. Jardina, Ally Franz, McDonald and Verbesey had the scores.
- Verbesey scored three goals as part of 5-0 third quarter for the visitors. Jardina and Chelsea Tzau also scored.
- Christina Long, Jenna Goldstein and Verbesey had goals for Colby in the fourth quarter while McKenna ended the drought for the Huskies with her second goal of the game.
