How It Happened: Game One – Southern Maine 8, Keene State 2
  • Southern Maine jumped ahead early scoring four runs in the top of the first.  Day had a two-run double to start the Southern Maine rally, while sophomore Mackenzie Renner (Alton, N.H./Prospect Mountain) drove in two runs with a double of her own. The Huskies had three hits and a walk in the inning.
  • After a quiet second, the Huskies put three more runs across the plate in the top of the third.  After Day drew a lead off walk, sophomore Kendall Migliorini (Salem, N.H.) brought her home with a double to the gap in right.  Senior Hannah Shields (Buckfield, Maine) pushed another run across the plate with an RBI bunt single, while senior Belle Snyder (Epping, N.H.) made it 7-0 in the favor of USM with an RBI ground out.
  • Keene answered back in the bottom of the third, scoring twice to cut its deficit to 7-2. The first three Owls at the plate reach safely to load the bases on a walk and back-to-back singles. Snyder got the first out of the inning on a strikeout but gave up a two-run single to right to Abby Monkevicz. With runners on first and third and one out, Lee entered the game in relief of Snyder, and got the final two outs of the inning on back-to-back strikeouts.
  • USM scored the final run of the game in the top of the fourth.  Day reached on a two-out double, and then scored on an Owl fielding error on the would-be third out of the game.
  • Up 8-2 headed into the bottom of the fourth, Lee worked her way around a pair of hits and a walk in the fourth, picking up another pair of strikeouts, and then retired the Owls in order in the bottom of the fifth.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Lee worked her way out of a potential high-scoring jam.  After getting the first two outs on a pop up and a strikeout, Lee surrendered a single to center.  An error on the next play and a walk loaded the bases against Lee with two down but the Husky freshman got the final out on a fly-out to left field to keep in 8-2.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Lee gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning, but took down the next three batters to earn the win.

How It Happened: Game Two – Southern Maine 8, Keene State 0 (5 inning)
  • McIntosh turned in another strong performance to earn the shutout victory.  Keeping the Owls' bats silent, McIntosh did not allow a hit nor yield a walk in seven innings while picking up seven strikeouts.  With McIntosh in control, the Owls only had one base-runner off of a fielding error in the bottom of the fourth.
  • USM again took the lead early scoring twice in the top of the first. With two outs, sophomore Olivia Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) and senior Rona Scott (Beverly, Mass.) each drew a walk and then advanced a base on a passed ball.  Day drove in both of the Huskies runs in the inning with a two-out single up the middle.
  • The Huskies went up 3-0 in the top of the second on a pinch-hit RBI from sophomore Kristina Yebba (Danvers, Mass.), before breaking open the game with five runs in the top of the fourth.
  • Shields had a one-out single down the right field line to start the rally, before scoring on a series of fielding and throwing errors in the Huskies next at bat. USM had runners on first and third after a walk was drawn by sophomore Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) and Snyder had an RBI sacrifice bunt down the first base line to make it 5-0. Junior Abby Miner (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) made it 7-0 for the Huskies with a two-run home run to left field, scoring Bezanson.  Scott drove in the Huskies final run of the inning with an RBI single through the right side, scoring Levasseur who reached safely on a double following Miner's home run.
  • McIntosh picked up the first two outs of the fourth to retire 11 consecutive Owls before the Husky fielding error, but came back to get her second strikeout of the inning to close the fourth.  In the fifth, McIntosh had a ground out, a strikeout and a ground out to earn the win.
