How It Happened:
  • Seymour put USM up first with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, only for Bethel to rally back and tie the score 2-2 in the top of the second.  Christiansen had an RBI triple to center to start the Royal rally.
  • The Huskies scored three runs in the home half of the inning on a two-run double to right from senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) and an RBI single up the middle from Douin, but the Royals again rallied with the first of three big-run innings in the game.  Down 5-2 to start the third, the Royals scored four runs on a single from Christiansen, and a three-run homerun from Noah Wenberg to jump ahead 6-5.
  • USM retook the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run single to right from freshman Aaron Whitman (Bennington, Vermont), but Whitman's two RBI were the last runs for the Huskies until the bottom of the sixth as Bethel scored five runs in the top of the fourth, and five more in the top of the sixth to lead 16-7.
  • The Huskies took one back in the bottom of the sixth as the Royals gave up two walks and a hit batsmen around a single from Douin, making it 16-8.  Seymour made it a six-run game, 16-10 in the top of the ninth, with a two-run double to right, and then came around to score on a wild pitch, making it 16-11 but the Huskies were unable to score more before the Royals got out of the innings.

Inside the Box Score
