How It Happened:
- The Huskies scored twice in the first. Sophomore Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) drove in the first run with an RBI double down the left field line, and then scored on a fielding error two batters later for a 2-0 USM lead early.
- Husky starter freshman Colin McDonald (Gorham, Maine) had a strong outing, keeping TCNJ off the scoreboard through six. Holding the Lions to four hits over his six inning, McDonald did not yield a walk and struck out four.
- McDonald started the seventh and was replaced after allowing a lead-off single to TCNJ's Michael Schumacher. Schumacher's single started the Lion rally in the seventh. TCNJ scored six runs in the inning on six hits and three walks. Batting around the lineup, Schumacher drove in two runs with a single up the middle to cap the rally giving TCNJ a 6-3 lead.
- Southern Maine bounced back in the top of the eight scoring three runs to tie the game up at 6-6. Junior Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) had an RBI single, while Douin drove in a pair with a single to right. Senior Lucas Francis (Lisbon, Maine) and Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) each had hits in the inning.
- TCNJ continued to score big runs in the eight, putting five more across the plate highlighted by a two-run single from Ryan Goodall, for a 11-6 lead.
- Trailing 11-6 in the top of the ninth, the Huskies were unable to muster a base-runner as TCNJ's Joe Ferreri retired the side in order.
