DANBURY, Conn. – Cameron Gallon scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 79-68 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena.
Gallon was one of four Wolves to score in double-figures, shooting 12-of-17 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from three point range. Jourdan Belcher added 16 points, while Alfonzo Stokes and Jeremiah Williams each had 10 points.

Tommy Whelan (Bronx, N.Y./Fordham Prep) led Southern Maine with 25 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field, and a 10-for-12 mark from the free throw line. Freshman
Brady Saunders (Brewer, Maine) had 15 points and four assists, while senior
Chance Dixon (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) added 12 points.

Today's game marked the 65
th meeting between the WestConn Wolves and the University of Southern Maine Huskies. WestConn leads the overall series 46-19. The Huskies and the Wolves spit the 2022-23 series.
How It Happened:
- WestConn raced out to an early 8-0 lead, and led by as many as 15 points, 34-19, late in the first half on a layup from Belcher with 4:39 to go. The Huskies bounced back with a 6-0 spurt to trim their deficit to nine, 34-25, on layups from Saunders and Ken Perry, and two free throws from Dixon, but WestConn scored the final four points of the half to hold a 38-25 lead at the break.
- WestConn maintained its double-digit advantage in the second half and led by 20, 61-41, after a three from Jaheim Young with 9:54 to play. The Huskies battled back, however, to bring the game to within 10, 68-65, outscoring the Wolves 17-7 over the next five minutes. Whelan, Saunders and Dixon scored all 17 of the Huskies' points in the surge, but Southern Maine never got closer the rest of the way for the 79-68 final.

- After being outscored 38-25 in the first half, Southern Maine outscored WestConn 43-41 in the second. The Huskies shot 9-for-28 (32.1 percent) in the opening half, and 12-for-26 (46.2 percent) in the second half.
