GORHAM, Maine – Sixth-year forward
Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) became the all-time assists leader for the University of Southern Maine men's lacrosse team on Wednesday evening in an 18-10 loss to the University of New England Nor'easters. James recorded a pair of assists in the game and now has 99 in his career. The record of 98 was held by former Husky Keegan Smith (2014-17). James also scored three goals in the game. He is now the program record-holder in goals (134), assists (99) and points (233).

The UNE offense was led by Andrew Lawrence with four goals and five assists. Sam McGregor was also a force for the Nor'easters with seven goals and an assist. UNE also had good offensive performances from Shea Fogarty, Joe O'Keefe and Collin Jackson. Fogarty had two goals and three assists while O'Keefe and Jackson each scored twice.

Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) and
Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering) both had three points. Wetmore's points came from a goal and two assists while Contreras scored twice and assisted on a goal.
Junior
Aman Zunser (Lyman, Maine/ Massabesic) had a goal and an assist as well for Southern Maine plus a team-high five ground balls.

How It Happened:
- Wetmore scored the first goal of the game 3:58 into the action before the Nor'easters outscored the Huskies 5-1 over the rest of the period. Fogarty and McGregor each had two goals in the quarter.
- McGregor, who scored the last goal of the first quarter, netted three-straight goals to open the second. In total, UNE scored seven times in the quarter while giving up just one goal to enter halftime up 12-3.
- UNE remained in control throughout the third quarter and scored four more times. Southern Maine answered with three goals but still trailed 16-6 with 15 minutes left to play. James' record-breaking assist came on the set up of a goal by Zunser 4:50 into the quarter.
- The Huskies scored four times in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the large Nor'easter lead.

Inside The Stats:
- Freshman Adam Coley (Valencia, Cail./Cheshire) scored the first two goals of his career. He also had four ground balls. His first collegiate tally came in the third quarter after a feed from Wetmore.
- Freshmen Patrick O'Driscoll (Biddeford, Maine) and Owen Gaulrapp (Windham, Maine) also had points with O'Driscoll scoring a goal and Gaulrapp recording the assist.
- Sophomore Herb Bryant (Portland, Maine) caused five turnovers and had four ground balls to lead the Huskies' defense.
- Ben Gowell led the way for UNE in faceoffs with 18 wins on 23 attempts. He also had 10 ground balls.
- UNE led in ground balls 58-43.
