GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore
Kayde Kinaschuk (Calgary, Alberta) scored twice for the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a 5-3 non-conference loss to the Colby College Mules on Tuesday night in Gorham. The goals are the first two of his career. Two other Huskies, freshmen
Danny Caputo (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) and
Gage LeTourneau (Presque Isle, Maine), each recorded their first career point with an assist.
Colby's offense had five different goal scorers and Will Soloway recorded two assists. Massimo Gentile and Nick Stapleton each had a goal and an assist for the Mules.

How It Happened:
- The Mules opened the game with three goals in the first period with two coming in the first five minutes of play. Gentile, Reese Farrell and Jake MacDonald had the scores.
- The Huskies got on the board 3:18 into the second period when fifth year senior Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) tipped in a shot by LeTourneau for his first goal of the season. Freshman Gavin Simopoulos (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) also had an assist on the goal. Kinaschuk then scored a power play goal off the rebound of a Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario) shot to make the score 3-2 with 5:19 left in the period.
- Colby doubled their lead to 4-2 on a goal by Tyler Crist 30 seconds after Kinaschuk's tally.
- Kinaschuk scored his second goal of the game 1:24 into the third period with assists from sophomore Marcus Torgner (Mjolby, Sweden) and Captuo.
- The Huskies peppered Baliotti with shots but could not tie the game. Colby added an empty-net goal from Stapleton with one second left on the clock.
Inside The Stats:
- Kinaschuk recorded two points in eight games last season and his two goals tonight are the first of his career.
- Senior Mason Palmer (Cumming, Ga./Georgia Connections Academy) made 22 saves in the loss. Edward Baliotti made 27 saves for Colby.
- Colby led 38-23 in faceoffs.
