RUTLAND, Vt. – Seniors
Ally Stymiest (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) and
Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) each scored their third goal of the season to help the University of Southern Maine to a 3-1 win against the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans. Fellow senior
Madelyn McLeish (Dedham, Mass.) also had a goal for the Huskies. The Huskies earned their first New England Hockey Conference win of the season with the victory.

Joely Power (Clarenville, Newfoundland) recorded her first career point with an assist on McLeish's goal.

How It Happened:
- Stymiest made a heads-up play to grab a loose puck after the Spartans failed to complete a pass and fired a shot past Bakopanos for her third goal of the season 11:37 into the first period.
- Chagnon doubled the lead with a power play goal 11:24 into the second period by scoring off the rebound of her own shot. Seniors Amelie St-Amant (Ottawa, Ontario/ Ontario Hockey Academy) and Jess MacLean (Red Point, Nova Scotia) had the assists on the goal.
- The Huskies added another goal with just under four minutes left in the period when McLeish cleaned up the rebound of a shot by Power that was blocked. Sophomore Morgan Rochefort (Bangor, Maine/ Brooks School) also had an assist on the goal.
- Moa Carlsson spoiled McKim's shutout bid 3:04 into the third period with assists from Maysa Ford and Mikayla Brightman.

Inside The Stats:
- Chagnon and Stymiest are tied for the most goals on the team with three each. Chagnon has scored in three of the Huskies' four games this season.
- Chagnon now has seven career power play goals. She also has extended her program record for game-winning goals to 15.
- Castleton led 31-25 in faceoff wins. Meg Aiken and senior Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Ontario Hockey Academy) each won 10 for their team. Jackson finished 10-for-15 on draws.
