GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore
Norie Tibbetts (Skowhegan, Maine) scored twice, and senior
Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills) had two assists as the University of Southern Maine Huskies rallied from an early one-goal deficit to defeat the Framingham State University Rams 4-1 in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Hannaford Field.

Leah Thibodeau (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) had the first half equalizer, while sophomore
Dylan Barr (Phippsburg, Maine/Morse) had the go-ahead goal early in the second half to give the Huskies their first home win of 2024.

Tonight's game marked the 30
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and Framingham State University. Southern Maine leads the series 24-6 and has won the last 13 consecutively over the Rams, including a 4-1 win on the road in 2023.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Framingham State went up 1-0 early when Mikayla Malmquist tipped in a drive from Kaylee Beck to put the Rams ahead in the third minute.
- Ram starter Rowan Whittaker made the 1-0 lead stand through the first quarter making a trio of strong saves, and held the Huskies off the board until the 27th minute. Whittaker made seven first half saves in a solid start.
- The Huskies found the equalizer just before halftime when freshman Leah Thibodeau (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) redirected a centering pass from Carson for the first goal of her intercollegiate career.
- Sophomore Dylan Barr (Phippsburg, Maine/Morse) gave Southern Maine the lead just 2:28 into the second half, collected a rebounded save and burying it to the far post for her second goal of the season.
- USM increased its lead to 3-1 in the 37th minute when Tibbetts scored the first of her two goals in the game. Sophomore Jenessa Foster (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) created the play, winning the ball in the back and carving through the Rams defense before dishing out the assist to Tibbetts.
- Tibbetts closed the door on the game in the 58th minute tapping in another feed from Carson for the 4-1 final. Tibbetts now has a team-leading seven goals on the season.

- Southern Maine had a 25-4 advantage in shots and an 8-1 lead in penalty corners. The Huskies did not allow the Rams to earn a shot in the second half.
- With her two assists in today's game Carson has 40 goals, and 19 assists for 99 career points. Carson's 19 assists and her 40 career goals are both fifth all time in program history. The Huskies' career mark of 25 assists is held by Hall of Famer Peyton Dostie '14.

The Huskies hit the road for its next contest against Little East Conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday, October 12 (1:00 pm). The Huskies have a quick turnaround and will face Colby Colege on Sunday, October 13 (1:00 pm) at home on Hannaford Field. USM then travels to Thomas College on Wednesday, October 16 (7:00 pm) for a non-conference game.
