How It Happened:
- The Huskies took the lead 4:33 into the contest when sophomore Jess MacLean (Red Point, Nova Scotia/Rankin School of the Narrows) sent a pass between Elmira skaters that set up Stewart for a breakaway. Stewart then beat Beaubien for her fourth goal of the season and the Huskies' first-ever goal against Elmira. Junior Ally Stymiest (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) also assisted on the goal.
- The Soaring Eagles put seven shots on goal in the second period between a pair of power-plays but McKim denied each one. McKim made nine total saves in the period and the Huskies played outstanding defense with 13 blocked shots in the stanza.
- Elmira doubled their shots on goal in the third period and pelted McKim with 19 shots that were all saved. The Soaring Eagles pulled their goaltender with 1:44 left but junior Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) won two clutch faceoffs and the Huskies had a blocked shot from senior Jordan Colbert (Manomet, Mass./Plymouth South) and a poke check from senior Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) that helped neutralize the threat. An Elmira cross-checking penalty with five seconds left put the comeback attempt to bed as the Huskies closed out the game on the ensuing faceoff.
