LEWISTON, Maine – Maria Femia scored two goals as the No. 22 ranked Bates College Bobcats defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 10-1 in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Campus Avenue Field.

Today's game marked the 63rd meeting between the Huskies and the Bobcats. Bates leads the overall series 44-15-4. The Huskies last victory against Bates came on October 22, 2015 - a 4-3 overtime victory at home. Bates has won the last seven consecutively.
How It Happened:
· Femia scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute to give Bates a 1-0 lead before Southern Maine senior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills) pulled the Huskies even in the 12th minute with her second goal in as many games.
· The score remained 1-1 through the first before Bates rattled off three more goals in the second quarter to lead 4-1 at the half. Molly Griffin, Paige Cote and Kami Lambert scored for the Bobcats in the second.
· Bates made it 7-1 after the third as three more Bobcats scored. Femia scored again to start the fourth for the brace, and Bates tacked on two more for the 10-1 final.

· Senior Jordan Cummings (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) recorded her first defensive save of the season for the Huskies. She now has 11 in her career. Cummings had eight defensive saves in 2022, earning LEC Defensive Player of the Year honors.
