BRUNSWICK, Maine – Georgie Coetzer scored three second-half goals as the No. 16 Bowdoin College Polar Bears defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-0 in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Ryan Field.
It is the second nationally-ranked opponent the Huskies have faced in a seven-day stretch.

Tonight's game marked the 52
nd meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Bowdoin College Polar Bears. Bowdoin leads the series 41-6-5, and have won the last 20 games over the Huskies. Southern Maine last defeated Bowdoin on October 8, 2002 by the score of 2-1.
How It Happened:
- Caroline Higgins put the Polar Bears up early scoring in the second minute, and then assisted on both second quarter goals to help Bowdoin to a 3-0 lead at the break. May Malenfant and Sophia Rosati scored for Bowdoin in the 22nd and 23rd minute, respectively.
- Coetzer scored the first of her three goals as time expired in the third quarter to make it 3-0 off of another assist from Higgins.
- Coetzer scored twice in the fourth in the 50th and 53rd minute for the 6-0 final.
