GORHAM, Maine – Junior
Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) and senior
Riley Peterson (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) of the University of Southern Maine men's track and field team have earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors for the 2023 outdoor season. Both Drummey and Peterson picked up honors for their performances in the pole vault.
All-Region honors are awarded to the top five performers in each men's and women's track & field event and the members of the top three relay teams in each NCAA Division III region from the season-ending descending order list of performances. The Huskies compete in the East region.
Drummey was the top pole vaulter in both the East region and in New England this season. His season-best height of 5.00m came in at the New England DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championship where he won the New England title. Drummey also earned All-Region honors in the event during the 2021 season and was named the Field Athlete of the Year for the New England Region. He finished that season as an All-American thanks to third-place finish at the Division III National Championships.
Peterson, who has won the Little East Conference title in the pole vault in each of the past two seasons, cleared a season-best 4.60m at the Pine Tree State Classic in April. His mark is tied for third in the region. Peterson picks up his third All-Region nod for the outdoor pole vault.
