CASTLETON, Vt. – The University of Southern Maine women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to four games on Saturday afternoon with a 17-3 road victory over Castleton University in Little East Conference action. Nine different Huskies scored goals in the win led by four from graduate student
Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) and three from sophomore
Emily Cloutier (Brunswick, Maine).

How It Happened:
- The Huskies scored the first 11 goals of the game with nine coming in the first quarter. Racine made four saves in the first and held the Spartans off the scoreboard until they finally scored thanks to a Maddie Brasser goal with 5:18 left in the half.
- Southern Maine scored five more times in the third quarter and held the Spartans scoreless during the frame until Brasser scored her second goal of the game with 18 seconds left in the quarter.
- Lacey Greenamyre scored Castleton's third goal in the fourth quarter and junior Paige Rinaldi (Freeport, Maine) also scored in the final quarter.

Inside The Stats:
- Shanks led all players with four goals and four points.
- Cloutier scored three times and her three points tied with juniors Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine) and Kiaya Gatchell (Portland, Maine/Deering) for the second-most in the game. Nichols and Gatchell each scored twice and one assist.
- Freshmen Maddie Kinney (Topsham, Maine/ Mt. Ararat) and Cierra Hill (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy) both recorded two points with Kinney scoring two goals and Hill providing two assists.
- Madelyn Cote assisted on two of Castleton's three goals.
- Sophomore Julia McKenna (Windham, Maine), freshman Raegan Bechard (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and freshman Molly Black (Windham, Maine) also scored goals for the Huskies. Sophomore Anna Byers (Milford, Ct./ Joseph A. Foran) recorded an assist for the Huskies as well.
- The Huskies had a slight edge in ground balls at 26-to-19 and in draw controls at 12-10. Greenamyre and Colleen Sheridan led the way with five ground balls apiece followed by Gatchell's four. McKenna led all players with nine draw controls.
- McKenna, Hill and junior Zowie Cheetham-Wilmot (Biddeford, Maine) each caused three turnovers to lead the Huskies who combined for 15 total caused turnovers. In comparison Castleton only had four caused turnovers.
- The Huskies went 5-for-8 on free position shots with five different players netting goals.
