HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Down 1-0 after the first, Southern Maine scored two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead. The Huskies got on the board as junior Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) drew a lead off walk and sophomore Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) collected a single to put runners at first and second. After advancing a base on a wild pitch, senior Jonathan Wilson (Granby, Conn.) drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly RBI to center field. Junior Janek Luksza (South Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) made it 2-1 with a two-out RBI single to the gap in right.
- Endicott bounced right back however in the home half of the second. A lead off walk, a fielding error, and a hit by pitch loaded the bases against the Huskies before Shpur hit a grand slam to center field for a 5-2 lead.
- The Gulls bats stayed active the third with four hits and six runs. All six of the Gulls' runs in the third came after two outs, highlighted by a two-run single from Robbie Wladkowski and a double to right from Kyle Grabowski.
- Up 11-2, the Gulls added five more runs over the fourth and fifth innings to widen their gap and lead 16-2. After a scoreless sixth, the Huskies put two more across the plate in the seventh. Freshman Dylan Firmin led off the inning for Southern Maine with a home run down the right field line, and Seymour collected an RBI double to the same field.
- The Gulls took both runs back in the seventh, and before adding three more in the eighth for the 21-4 final.
