HOW IT HAPPENED vs. UMD Game 1:
- Down 4-2 after a four-running inning from the Corsairs in the top of the seventh, the Huskies rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to earn the game one win.
- With one out, USM drew back-to-back walks from freshman Brady Graffam (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and junior Janek Luksza (South Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) before loading the bases on a single to shortstop from senior Brogan Searle-Belanger (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy). Senior Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) came up big in his at-bat knocking a two-run single to right field to knot the score up at 4-4.
- UMD intentionally walked junior Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), and freshman Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) put the Huskies ahead with a single through the right side to score Vesosky and Searle-Belanger for the 6-4 lead.
- Afthim closed the game strong in the top of the ninth, retiring the Corsairs in order on a fly out, strikeout and a ground out.
- USM led 2-0 with one run in the third, and another in the fifth. The Huskies second run was off the bat of senior Arlo Pike (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle). Pike had a two-out single to left to score Vesosky who reached on a lead off single.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. UDM Game 2:
- Vesosky went 2-for-3 in the game with a run scored and two RBI. The Huskies' outfielder gave USM the early `1-0 lead in the bottom of the third with an RBI double down the left field line, before Douin singled up the middle to score Vesosky for a 2-0 Husky advantage.
- The Corsairs took one run back in the top of the fourth on an RBI ground out from Devyn Vezina. Vezina drove in Brett Baker who led off the inning with a triple for UMass Dartmouth.
- The score remained unchanged at 2-1 until the bottom of the seventh. The Huskies turned a double-play in the fifth to end a threat and pick up starter Robbins. In the top of the seventh, Robbins was dominant striking out the first two Corsairs before getting a pop out.
- In the home half of the seventh, USM took control of the game with two runs on four hits and a Corsair error. Vesosky continued his timely hitting with an RBI infield single. Douin had the final hit of the inning with a single to right for an RBI.
- Robbins continued his strong showing in the eighth getting UMD in order, including his sixth strikeout of the contest. After giving up a walk and a single, junior Matt Burnett (Ellsworth, Maine) entered the game, getting the next two outs with a strikeout and a pop up, before allowing an RBI double. USM collected the last out two batters later and took the 6-2 win.
