GORHAM, Maine – Junior
Chance Dixon (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including five threes, to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 91-86 win over the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Saturday afternoon in a Little East Conference men's basketball game at Hill Gymnasium.
Dixon was one of five Huskies in double-figures scoring. Senior
Cody Hawes (Carmel, Maine/Hermon) had 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while freshman
Mark Asare (Roswell, Ga./Centennial) came off of the bench for 12 points and four assists. Junior
Clay Kuhn (Winter Park, Fla.) added 11 points and seven rebounds, and freshman
Diego Colon (New Braunfels, Texas) tossed in 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Isaac Percy was 11-for-16 from the floor for a team-high 24 points to lead the Corsairs. Dhalyn Sanders-Dyer added 21 points and nine rebounds, while
John Martins, Jr. and Jackson Zancan each had 13 points.

Series History:
Meeting for the 83
rd time in series history, UMass Dartmouth leads the overall series 70-13. Southern Maine defeated the Corsairs 77-74 on January 7 to earn the sweep.
How It Happened:
- UMass Dartmouth opened the game on a 12-0 run shooting 5-for-9 from the field, while holding USM to a n 0-for-5 effort in the first 3:27 of the game. Sanders-Dyer and Jayquan Leonard each had threes for the Corsairs.
- Dixon woke up the Huskies offense at the 16:15 mark, and single-handedly outscored the Corsairs 12-4 over the next 2:24 to pull his team to within four, 16-12, with 14:09 left in the first. Dixon was 4-for-4 from three for the Huskies over that stretch.
- The Corsairs won the next two minutes and led 25-15 with 11:34 on the clock following a jumper from Percy, but the Huskies made it a one-point game at the 8:02 mark surging with a 14-5 clip to trail 30-29 after a three from Colon on a feed from Asare. Asare gave the Huskies their first lead of the game at the 7:19 mark with a three – this time with Colon on the assist.
- Both teams battled back-and-forth and USM led 40-38 with 3:16 left in the half on a layup from Dixon; however, UMD put together an 11-0 run to lead 49-40 with just 30 second before the break. Bryson Andrews and Zancam each had four points in the run.
- USM did score the final five points of the half, all from the free throw line, to trail 49-45. Colon had two free throws, while Dixon was fouled attempting a buzzer-beating three and sank all three free throws.
- In the second half, both teams exchanged baskets and the Corsairs led by five, 68-63 at the 11;18 mark after a jumper in the paint from Percy. The Huskies were able to erase their deficit over the next 3:17, outscoring UMass Dartmouth 8-1 with the go-head bucket coming from freshman Joe Longoria (New Braunfels, Texas).
- Zancan tied it up for UMD with a jumper at the 7:48 mark before USM's Hawes took over scoring the Huskies next six points to give the Huskies the lead for good, 77-73 with 6:26 to play.
- UMD got back-to-back layups from Percy and John Martins Jr. to trail 79-78 with 4:02 to play, but the Huskies outscored UMD 6-1 over the next 1:30 to lead 85-79 with 1:45 to play on a pair of buckets from Hawes and another from Dixon.
- Not done yet, the Corsairs' Sanders-Dyer and Percy scored five straight for another one-point deficit 85-84 with 1:14 to go, but Hawes rebounded his own miss and Dixon scored to keep USM in front 87-84 with 37 seconds to go.
- Sanders-Dyer converted another layup for an 87-86 game but Colon hit four free throws down the stretch for the 91-86 final.
Inside The Stats:
- UMass Dartmouth outscored USM 30-24 in the paint and had 21 points off of 14 Husky turnovers. UMD committed 18 turnovers.
- The Huskies' bench outscored the Corsairs bench 28-7 led by 12 points from Asare and 10 from Colon.
