Huskies Tie With #7 Norwich

GORHAM, Maine – Junior goalie Haley McKim (Moncton, NB, Canada/The Mount Academy) made 42 saves and senior Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) scored a goal as the University of Southern Maine women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with seventh-ranked Norwich University.

 The Records: Southern Maine: 11-10-1, 9-5-1 NEHC, NU: 14-5-2, 12-1-2 NEHC.
 
The Goaltenders: McKim (Moncton, NB, Canada/The Mount Academy): 11-9-1, 42 saves, one goal allowed; Leocadia Clark: 8-5-2, 25 saves, one goal allowed.
 
How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
  • The Cadets struck first with a Taylor Girouard goal 3:13 into the contest.
  • The Huskies tied the game less than five minutes later when Young tipped in an Amelie St-Amant shot. The goal was Young's third of the year while St-Amant recorded her fifth assist.
  • The defense and goaltending remained solid for both teams with McKim recording 34 saves in regulation and Clark stopping 24 shots.
  • The Cadets pelted McKim with shots in the overtime period but could not solve her as she made eight saves in the five-minute extra period.
