Olivia Stewart (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) each had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's ice hockey team over New England Hockey Conference opponent Vermont State University Castleton. Junior
Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) also scored for Southern Maine. Senior goaltender
Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) had another great game between the pipes with 40 saves.

Series History:
Today's game marked the 38
th meeting between the two programs with Castleton leading the all-time series 21-13-4. Southern Maine swept the season series last year winning 4-3 and 6-3.

Southern Maine:
Haley McKim (4-2-1), 60:00, one goal allowed, 40 saves
VTSU Castleton: Kirsten Dicicco (1-4-1), 59:24, two goals allowed, 20 saves

How It Happened:
- Southern Maine did not manage a shot on goal in the first period as both their shot attempts were blocked by Castleton's Katie Campoli. Castleton peppered McKim with 15 shots in the opening frame but were held scoreless.
- MacLeod put the Huskies ahead with her second goal of the season 10:44 into the second period but the Spartans tied the game 13 seconds later on a goal by Alex Johnson from Campoli. Sophomore Caroline Thompson (Crapaud, Prince Edward Island/Mount Academy) and Stewart each recorded their second assist of the year on MacLeod's goal.
- The Huskies went up 2-1 just over a minute into the third period when Stewart buried a feed from MacLeod in the Castleton net for her first goal of the season.
- Chagnon scored an empty-net goal in the final minute that was assisted by senior Amanda Crowley (South Yarmouth, Mass./Tilton School).

Inside The Stats:
- McKim made at least 10 saves in each period with 15 in the first, 11 in the second and 14 in the third.
- Thompson had three of Southern Maine's six blocked shots while MacLeod had two.
- The Huskies went 1-for-2 on the power-play while Castleton went 0-for-4.
- Stewart is the 10th different Husky to score a goal this season.
- Chagnon and MacLeod each scored their second goal of the season tonight and are tied with Thompson for the team lead.
