Caroline Thompson (Crapaud, Prince Edward Island/Mount Academy) added an empty-net goal as the University of Southern Maine Huskies defeated the Plymouth State University Panthers 2-0 in women's New England Hockey Conference action. Senior
Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) stopped all 24 shots that she faced for her fourth shutout of the season and 13
th of her career.

The Huskies and Panthers have now played 33 times with the Huskies holding a 24-8-1 lead in the series. The Huskies have now won each of the last six meetings and shutout the Panthers in four of those contests.

How It Happened:
- After a scoreless first period Chagnon put the Huskies ahead by scoring off her own rebound 7:27 into the second period after her initial shot was saved and kicked around in front of the net. Freshman Shannon Murphy (Pembroke, Mass./Brewster Academy) and senior Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) had assists on the goal.
- The Panthers recorded just six shots on goal in each of the first two periods but matched their game total with a dozen shots in the third but could not find a way to score on McKim.
- Thompson intercepted a pass in the final 30 seconds and flung in into the empty net for her second goal of the season. The goal is her second of the season.

Inside The Stats:
- The Panthers won the majority of the faceoffs (32-of-57) but could not translate their possession into goals as McKim kept them scoreless.
- McKim now holds a 5-0 career record against Plymouth State with four shutouts and just one goal allowed.
- Plymouth State blocked 16 shots led by four by Lauren McNeil and three by Sanna Augustsson.
- Each team went 0-for-2 on the power-play.
