GORHAM, Maine – Jordan Anthony scored a team high 19 points while going 9-15 from the field to lead the UMaine Farmington Beavers to a 77-63 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Hill Gymnasium.
Anthony added seven rebounds, while securing three steals for the Beavers. Zachary Mickle added 17 points and three assists, while Jason Reynolds netted 13 points and a team high 10 rebounds.
Senior
Chance Dixon (Winter Park, Florida) led all scorers with 23 points. Dixon was 8-16 from the floor and 3-9 from three. Sophomore
Tommy Whelan (Bronx, N.Y./Fordham Prep) and freshman
Brady Saunders (Brewer, Maine) both netted 11 points, while senior
Cody Hawes (Carmel, Maine/Hermon) led Southern Maine with seven rebounds.

Today's game marked the 101st match-up between the University of Southern Maine Huskies and the UMaine Farmington Beavers. The Huskies lead the overall series 73-28. This is the first win for the Beavers since November 20, 2021 beating the Huskies 91-73.
How It Happened:
- Up by a bucket, 19-16, with 9:12 to play in the first half, UMaine Farmington pulled away from the Huskies with a quick 6-0 run on jumpers from Patrick McKenney , Brock Flagg and Anthony to lead 25-16 with 7:19 on the clock. A layup from Saunders made it a 25-19 game, but a steal and a dunk from Anthony and a layup from McKenney pushed the Beaver lead to 10, 29-19, with under five to go in the half.
- USM made it a two-possession deficit with a three from sophomore Joe Longoria (New Braunfels, Texas) and back-to-back jumpers in the paint for Dixon for a 31-26 game with 55 seconds until the half, but UMF scored on a layup from Mickle to take a 33-26 lead at the break.
- USM cuts its deficit to five, 39-34, in the opening five minutes of the second half, but the Beavers outpaced USM 16-10 in the next five minutes to resume a 10-point advantage, 55-44, capped by a layup from Anthony.
- A traditional three-point play from Whelan pulled USM to within nine, 63-54, with 5:36 left on the clock before the Beavers rattled off a 9-2 spurt to led 72-58 with 2:44 to play. UMF closed out the game on the free throw line making five-of-six down the stretch for the 77-63 final.
Inside The Stats:
- UMaine Farmington outrebounded Southern Maine 42-27 throughout the matchup including a 13-8 differential on offensive boards. The Beavers were able to score 21 points off of second chance buckets and shot 56.1 percent from the floor.
- The Huskies improved to 46.9 percent (15-for-32) from the field in the second after netting 42.3 percent (11-for-26) in the first half. Southern Maine struggled behind the arc shooting 20.8 percent (5-for-24) from three.

Southern Maine will open their Little East Conference campaign on the road at Keene College on Saturday, December 2 (1:00 pm). The Huskies will return home to host LEC opponent Rhode Island College on Wednesday, December 6 (7:30).
