GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies and UMass Boston Beacons played to a 0-0 tie on Friday evening in women's New England Hockey Conference action. Huskies' senior goaltender Haley McKim (Moncton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) made 34 saves while Leah Bosch made 33 saves for the Beacons.

Southern Maine: 3-3-1 (1-1-1 NEHC)
 
Series History:
Tonight's game was the 38th meeting between the two programs. The Beacons lead the series 21-14-3 but the Huskies swept the season series in 2022-23 and defeated the Beacons 3-2 in the first round of the NEHC tournament. Tonight's tie is the lowest-scoring game in series history as the other two ties both ended 1-1.
 
The Goaltenders:
UMass Boston: Leah Bosch (1-2-3), 64:58, zero goals allowed, 33 saves
Southern Maine: Haley McKim (1-1-1), 65:00, zero goals allowed, 34 saves
 
How It Happened:

• The Huskies put nine shots on the goal in the first period but couldn't solve Bosch. On the other end of the ice, McKim stonewalled the Beacons and stopped all eight shots she faced.
• The strong goaltending continued into the second period as each team had over 10 shots on the goal but were held scoreless.
• Each goalie made nine saves in the third to force overtime and in the extra period the Beacons peppered McKim with six shots but the Huskies' goalie stopped each one.

 
Inside The Stats:

• The game featured 11 penalties but neither team could convert their power-play opportunities.
• The Beacons blocked 14 shots led by three from Gabby Shontz. Junior Amelie St-Amant (Cornwall, Ontario/ Ontario Hockey Academy) blocked three shots for the Huskies.
• Sophomore Olivia Stewart (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Mount Academy) led the Huskies with six shots on goal.
• McKim's shutout is the 11th of the career, the third-most in program history behind Karen Jamnik's 15 and Molly Duer's 12. This is the first time she has had a shutout in a tie.
