Huskies Bested by No. 14 Elmira 4-0

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Madi Morton scored twice while Claire Meeder had three assists in a 4-0 win for the No. 14 Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Saturday against the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a women's New England Hockey Conference game.
 
The Records:
Southern Maine: 3-3-0 (1-1-0 NEHC)
Elmira: 4-2-0 (3-1-0 NEHC)
 
Series History:
Elmira has now won all five of the meetings between the two teams.
 
The Goaltenders:
Southern Maine: Haley McKim (1-1-0), 60:00, four goals allowed, 53 saves
Elmira: Chloe Beaubien (2-0-0), 59:37, zero goals allowed, 12 saves
 
How It Happened:
  • Morton scored 40 seconds into the game and again 13:10 into the period with both goals coming on the power-play. Meeder assisted on both goals and Holley Riva and Emma Bradbury also had assists.
  • Sabrina Shvartsman added a third Elmira goal in the second period with Meeder once again logging an assist.
  • Riva scored in the third period with Emily Lenzen recording an assist.
 
Inside The Stats:
  • The Huskies had just 12 shots on the goal led by four from junior Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial).
  • Elmira went 52-for-66 on faceoffs with Lenzen losing just two of her 24 draws.
  • Southern Maine blocked 16 shots with three coming from freshman Ellie Eigner (Bowling Green, Ohio/ South Lyon East).
