Late Goal Delivers 1-0 Win For Rhode Island College Over Southern Maine

PROVIDENCE, RI   -  Jesus Garcia scored in the 70th minute to lead the Rhode Island College Anchormen to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
 
The loss ends a four-game unbeaten streak for the Huskies.

How It Happened:
  • After a scoreless first half, Rhode Island College was able to break through for the game-winner in the 70th as Garcia hit a shot to the top left corner of the goal after a one-touch pass from Cody Grainville. 
  • The Huskies had a chance for an equalizer in the 87th following a corner kick, but Asa Farley's header was blocked.

  • Southern Maine and Rhode Island College were relatively even in statistics.  RIC had an 8-6 lead in shots, but a 4-1 lead in shots on goal.
