GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Hannah Banks (Belfast, Maine) scored twice, and freshman
Dylan Barr (Phippsburg, Maine/Morse) added a third to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 3-0 win over the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 3-0 win in Little East Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Today's game marked the 26
th meeting between the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors and the University of Southern Maine Huskies. Southern Maine leads the overall series 21-5. Southern Maine defeated ECSU 3-1 in 2022. The Warriors earned a 3-2 double overtime win in 2021.
How It Happened:
- Receiving a pass from junior Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine), Banks hit a backhanded shot to the top right corner in the 11th minute to stake the Huskies to a 1-0 lead in the first quarter.
- Despite the Huskies outshooting the Warriors 10-2 in the opening 30 minutes, the score remained unchanged through the remainder of the first half. ECSU goalkeeper Veronica McKenna made five of her nine saves in the opening half.
- Barr made it 2-0 in favor of the Huskies, redirecting a pass from junior Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) right in front of the cage to the right side, for her fourth goal of the season in the 42nd minute.
- Banks secured the brace just before the end of regulation scoring in 58th minute following a strong individual effort for the 3-0 final.

- Husky freshman Jenessa Foster (Pittsfield, Maine/MCI) helped preserve the shutout making a defensive save in the first half. She leads the Huskies with six defensive saves this season.
- Chartier's assist on Banks' first goal is her fourth of the season, which is second on the team.

Southern Maine is on the road for its next five contests. The Huskies will face New England College on Thursday (7:00 pm) in a non-conference game, and then travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday (3:30 pm) for Little East Conference action.
