WORCESTER, Mass. – Grace Adams scored her second goal of the game seconds into the overtime period to lift the Worcester State University Lancers to a 3-2 overtime win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Wednesday night at John F. Coughlin Field.

Today's game marked the 26
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and Worcester State University. The series is now even at 13-13. . Southern Maine defeated the Lancers 4-1 at home in 2022.
How It Happened:
- The Lancers went up early as Zoe Athanasopoulos scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute for a 1-0 Worcester State lead.
- Junior Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine) answered back for the Huskies with the equalizer in the 10th minute and then the go-ahead goal in the 12th for a 2-1 Southern Maine advantage. Senior Mary Keef (Westbrook, Maine) assisted on Chartier's game-tying goal.
- The score remained 2-1 through the second quarter and into the half time break. In the third Adams was able to pull the Lancers even in the 42nd minute.
- Both teams were scoreless in the fourth. Southern Maine held a 4-3 lead in shots in the final quarter of regulation, but trailed 2-1 in shots on goal. The Huskies also had a 6-0 lead in penalty corners in the fourth quarter but were unable to convert.
- Adams' game-winner followed a Lancer penalty corner that was their eighth of the contest.
