Tonight's game was the 21st meeting between the local rivals. UNE leads the all-time series 11-8-2. The teams split the season series 1-1 last year with the home team winning each contest. The Nor'easters won the season-opener 2-1 and the Huskies won 3-1 the second time the teams played.

How It Happened:
- UNE scored first with a goal by Piper Desorcie 17:21 into the first period that was assisted by Jamie Ryan.
- The second period was scoreless despite the Huskies consistently putting the puck on goal with Corcoran making 17 saves in the period. On the other side of the ice Fredenburg stopped all six shots she faced.
- A UNE hooking penalty gave the Huskies a power-play and 1:05 later senior captain Amanda Crowley (South Yarmouth, Mass./Tilton School) scored the first goal of the season for Southern Maine. Fellow captains Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) and Jess MacLean (Red Point, Nova Scotia/Rankin School of the Narrows) received credit for the assists on the game-tying goal.
- The Huskies took advantage of another Nor'easters as Snow scored her first goal of the season with MacLean recording her second assist of the game on the play.
- Freedenburg made five saves over the last five minutes of play to keep the Huskies ahead.

- The teams combined for 13 penalties in the game. Southern Maine went 2-for-8 on power-plays and UNE went 0-for-5 with the advantage.
