GORHAM, Maine – Just in time for the 2023 University of Southern Maine Homecoming and Family Weekend, Huskies' Athletics and Sebago Brewing are announcing an exciting, new and tasty collaboration: Pack Leader Pale Ale.
Available for purchase on October 13, Pack Leader made its debut during the inauguration of University of Southern Maine President Dr. Jacqueline Edmondson on Thursday, October 12. Pack Leader, a New England Pale filled with Cascade, Citra, and Mosaic hops making it juicy, hazy, and husky, will also be available throughout the University's homecoming weekend.
- WMPG's 50th Anniversary Celebration on October 14th
- The Octoberfest Homecoming Celebration at the USM Gorham Campus on October 15th
- The USM Athletics Husky Hall of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony on the evening of October 15th
Four-packs of 16-ounce cans of Pack Leader will be available for purchase at these events and at Sebago Brewing locations in Gorham, Scarborough, and Kennebunk. Pack Leader will be available on draft at the Husky Brew Cafe at the McGoldrick Center in Portland.
Proceeds from the sale of Pack Leader Pale Ale and the partnership between University of Southern Maine Athletics and Sebago Brewing Company will support the Athletics Department's five core principles: Academic Excellence, Athletic Achievement, Personal Development, Career Development, and Service to the Community. Specific support will be provided to the William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete program and the collaboration with the USM Career Hub to support student success.
More than 250 University of Southern Maine student-athletes will be honored as 2023 William B. Wise Scholar Athletes later this fall. The 250-plus Wise Scholar Athletes represent more than 50 percent of the University's ~450 student-athletes earning a 3.0 or higher grade-point average during the 2022-2023 academic year. Fulfilling its promise to place the highest priority on the student-athlete experience, Husky Athletics is committed to preparing its student-athletes for the next steps. Part of that experience has been the Athletic Department's collaboration with the USM Career & Employment Hub. A fantastic resource to all USM students, the USM Career & Employment Hub provides an opportunity for students to gain experience in the field, explore career directions, develop global citizenship skills, and give back to the community. Over the last three years, the USM Career & Employment Hub and Husky Athletics have partnered to host Husky Pack Chats, including a Mocktail Networking event this Friday as part of the Homecoming and Family Weekend activities.
