McKim Sets Program Single-Game Saves Record in Loss to Elmira

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – University of Southern Maine junior goalie Haley McKim (Moncton, NB, Canada) made a program record 62 saves in a 5-0 loss to Elmira College on Saturday afternoon.
 
When and Where: Saturday, January 14, 2023 – Pine Valley, N.Y. – Murray Athletic Center
 
Score: Soaring Eagles 2, Huskies 0
 
The Records:  Elmira: 13-5-0, 12-0-0 NEHC, Southern Maine: 8-9-0, 6-4-0 NEHC
 
The Goaltenders: Leonie-Louise Kuehberger: 11-4-0, 12 saves, shutout; McKim: 8-8-0, 62 saves, five goals allowed.
 
How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
  • McKim stopped all 27 shots she faced in the first period as neither team could find the back of the net.
  • Elmira kept up the pressure on offense and scored four goals in the second period.
  • The Soaring Eagles added another goal in the third period to make the final score 5-0.
  • Jenny Heath recorded a hat trick for Elmira and was one of three Soaring Eagles with multiple points joining Morgan Mordini (two assists) and Erika Goleniak (goal and an assist).
  • Sophomores Jess MacLean (Red Point, NS, Canada) and Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) each had two shots on goal for the Huskies.
