BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Southern Maine volleyball team traveled to Brunswick, Maine for the first road game of the season on Wednesday evening. The Huskies battled Bowdoin College and were defeated 3-0.

Score: Polar Bears 3, Huskies 0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14)
The Records: Southern Maine: 1-3; Bowdoin: 1-0.
History: With the victory Bowdoin extends their series lead over the Huskies to 21-6.
How It Happened:
- Bowdoin pulled away with a 9-0 run in the first set to pull away and eventually took the set 25-14.
- The second set featured four ties and a lead change but the Polar Bears continued to control the match and went up two sets to none with a 25-16 win.
- After Bowdoin opened the third set with five consecutive points the Huskies answered in a 6-0 run to take the lead highlighted by back-to-back-to-back service aces from freshman Ellie Perry (Gorham, Maine). However, the Polar Bears quickly retook the lead and closed out the match with another 25-14 win to sweep the match 3-0.

- Reigning Little East Conference Rookie of the Week Savannah Hunter (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) led Southern Maine with 13 digs and eight assists.
- Bowdoin's Ella Haugen led all players with 31 assists.
- Jenna Robbins had 10 kills and 14 digs for the Polar Bears.
- Bowdoin tallied 41 kills compared to USM's eight.
Up Next: The Huskies will head down to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday for a tri-meet with Emerson College and Western New England University. USM will face Emerson at 1:00 pm before playing WNEU at 3:00 pm.
