How It Happened:

  • The Huskies snagged a 2-0 lead in the second quarter when Southern Maine was awarded a penalty stroke and sophomore defender Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/thornton Academy) stepped to the spot and laced a shot to the lower left corner in the 22nd minute. The goal is Boudreau's first of her career.
  • Southern Maine doubled its lead in the third quarter.  Junior Chloe Arsenault (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) made it 3-0 in the 35th minute, scoring her third goal of the season, cleaning up a loose ball in the circle. The goal marked the 10th of her career. Minutes later, Drinkwater scored the first of her three goals in the 39th to make it 4-0.
  • In the fourth, the Huskies ballooned their lead to 7-0 scoring three goals. Drinkwater scored her second goal in the 47th minute before Carson captured her brace in the 51st, knocking down a lofted pass from junior Mary Keef (Westrook, Maine) for a quick 6-0 advantage.  Drinkwater completed the hat trick less than a minute later scoring in the 52nd minute for the 7-0 final.
  • Senior Julianna Kiklis (York, Maine) and freshman Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) split time in goal for USM. Kiklis did not make a save in the first half, while Folsom made four second half saves to preserve the shutout.
